About Julie Kent
Julie Kent, born on July 11, 1969 in Bethesda, Maryland, is a renowned ballet dancer and the artistic director of The Washington Ballet. She was a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre from 1993 to 2015. Prior to her fame, she studied dance at the Academy of the Maryland Youth Ballet.
Kent’s introduction to mainstream audiences came when she appeared as prima ballerina Kathleen Donahue in the ballet cult hit Center Stage. In her personal life, she married fellow American Ballet Theatre member Victor Barbee in 1996.
