About Julia Scotti
Julia Scotti, born on June 1, 1952 in Fairview, New Jersey, is a national touring comedian. She gained attention as one of the oldest contestants on America’s Got Talent and for openly revealing her transgender identity. Despite leaving comedy to focus on transitioning and working as a teacher for seven years, she returned to the stage with success. Scotti has appeared on Comedy Central and was recognized by Advocate Magazine as one of the top 5 transgender comedians in 2012. Additionally, she became the first transgender woman finalist at the New York Based Ladies of Laughter Competition.
Prior to fame, Julia was known by the name Rick Scotti for 28 years. Originally from Fairview, New Jersey, she comes from a family background where her parents divorced when she was six years old. She also has an older sister.
