About Julia Haller
Julia Haller is a world-renowned retina surgeon and leader in the fight to preserve and protect sight. She was born on November 9th, 1111 in Baltimore, Maryland. With an extensive list of accomplishments, she has published over 400 scientific articles and book chapters covering various topics such as retinal pharmacology, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, health care disparities, and gender equity.
In 2019, she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine. Julia has held significant leadership roles in organizations including president of the Retina Society, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Women in Medicine Legacy Foundation,, and also served on the Board of Trustees of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology.
Prior to her success as a doctor and researcher Julia graduated from Princeton University with an A.B degree before completing her medical training at Harvard University’s Medical School.
Notably In 1986 she made history by becoming the first female Chief Resident at The Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute..
