Julia Butterfly Hill is an American activist born on February 18, 1974, in Mount Vernon, Missouri. She is known for her environmental and anti-timber tax work. One of her notable actions was living in a giant redwood tree for over a year to protest the Pacific Lumber Company’s policies. She co-authored books such as The Legacy of Luna and One Makes the Difference.
Prior to gaining recognition as an activist, Hill faced adversity when she was involved in a serious car accident that required her to re-learn how to walk and speak. After her influential act of tree-sitting, she became a motivational speaker and co-founded the Circle of Life Foundation.
