Julia Brown (born February 11, 1980) is a Scottish TV actress known for her appearances in popular shows such as M.I.High, Shetland, World on Fire, and The Alienist. In World on Fire, she portrayed the character Lois Bennett – a singer whose musical talents become significant during World War II. Interestingly, Brown performed all of her character’s songs which constitute the majority of the show’s soundtrack. Additionally, she also works as a model.
Brown received formal training in acting, singing, and dancing at MGA – a renowned musical theatre school before making her debut appearance in the children’s spy series M.I.High back in 2014. The series was honored with a Royal Television Society Award for Best Children’s Drama in 2009 and ran for seven years encompassing 88 episodes.
In addition to her acting career successes, Brown appeared as a contestant on the game show Pointless Celebrities in 2021. She has discussed her approach to preparing for roles by undertaking extensive research into both historical contexts and personal accounts from individuals who have encountered similar circumstances to those faced by her characters.
