She gained recognition for her role as Dorothy de Lascabanes in the film The Eye of the Storm alongside Geoffrey Rush. Davis attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art and Western Australian Institute of Technology before starting her acting career.She played Judy Garland in the TV miniseries Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows.

In addition to her professional achievements, she has a family life as well; she married Colin Friels in 1984 and they had two children together.
