Judith Steinberg Dean was born on May 9, 1953, in New York. She is best known as the wife of presidential candidate Howard Dean and served as the First Lady of Vermont from 1991 to 2003. Judith married her husband in 1981.
Before gaining prominence in politics, she received her M.D. and met Howard at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Interestingly, she maintained her medical practice throughout her husband’s political career.
