About Judith Rossner
Judith Rossner (March 31, 1935 – August 9, 2005) was an American novelist best known for her works “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” and “August.” Born in New York City, she dropped out of the City College of New York before beginning her career in writing. Following the publication of “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” she was able to focus on writing full-time after quitting her day job.
Rossner’s most famous novel, “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” published in 1975, was inspired by the murder of teacher Roseann Quinn. Her book “August,” released in 1983, focused on the relationship between a young woman and her psychologist.
She grew up as the daughter of a textile worker and a schoolteacher in New York City and married Robert Rossner with whom she had two children.
