JT Leroy, born Laura Albert on October 31, 1980 in West Virginia, is an American author known for her fiction written under the pseudonym JT LeRoy. Her notable works include the short story collection “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things” and the novel “Sarah,” which explores themes of prostitution.
Prior to becoming a writer, the fictional Jeremiah “Terminator” LeRoy was portrayed as being involved in drug addiction and prostitution; however, there is limited information available about Laura Albert’s early life. In an interview with The New York Times, it was revealed that she was the actual author behind the LeRoy books.
Throughout many years, she shared her life with partner Geoffrey Knoop; together they had one son.
