Jolie Holland, born on September 11, 1975 in Texas, is an American folk singer and multi-instrumentalist. Known for her unique blend of traditional American genres such as folk, jazz, and blues, she gained prominence as a founding member of the band The Be Good Tanyas and has also released solo albums including the critically acclaimed Escondida in 2004.

Holland was born in Houston and played a pivotal role in recording the first Be Good Tanyas album titled Blue Horse in 2000. Notably, her song “Waiting Around to Die” with The Be Good Tanyas was featured on an episode of the AMC series Breaking Bad.

Having been raised in a Jehovah’s Witness household and having a twin sister highlights aspects of her personal life.
