About John Yuyi
John Yuyi, born on February 21, 1991 in Taiwan, is a multimedia artist best known for her thought-provoking digital artwork that offers commentary on contemporary youth culture. Based in New York City, she has gained recognition for her series of pieces titled Face Post and skin on skin. The former involves the literal painting of Facebook posts onto one’s face.
Prior to gaining fame as an artist, Yuyi honed her skills by painting and sketching in the traditional Chinese style while growing up in Taipei. She went on to pursue a degree in fashion design from Shih Chien University. In addition to her work as an artist, she also created her own swimwear line featuring one-piece suits and worked as a style assistant for Vogue magazine.
Yuyi continues to explore themes of self-expression through her art while remaining connected to her roots and experiences from Taiwan.
