Johanne Defay is a professional surfer born on November 19, 1993, in France. Her impressive career includes winning the Vans US Open of Surfing and the Fiji Women’s Pro. In addition to these accomplishments, she was named the 2014 Rookie of the Year on the Women’s World Championship Tour.
Defay developed an early passion for surfing, beginning at age 8 on Reunion island and entering competitive surfing at just 10 years old. Notably, she became the youngest-ever European Junior Champion in 2009. Her father’s background as a surfer likely influenced her interest in the sport.
