About Jim Walmsley
Jim Walmsley, born on January 17, 1990 in Arizona, is a renowned trail runner who gained widespread acclaim in the ultrarunning world through his record-setting performances at races such as the R2R2R in the Grand Canyon. He has achieved multiple victories at the JFK 50 Mile and was bestowed with the title of Ultra Runner of the Year for 2016.
Prior to achieving his success, Walmsley spent his formative years just outside Phoenix, Arizona before embarking on a running journey during his freshman year of high school. Additionally, he later assumed the role of assistant track and field coach at the University of Texas.
Notably, he once had an episode during the Western States 100 in 2016 where he found himself leading with a course-record pace but ultimately finished twentieth due to accidentally taking a wrong turn
Walmsley’s personal life remains private but it is known that his mother’s name is Joan.
