About Jillian Tamaki
Jillian Tamaki is a Canadian illustrator known for her unique drawing style and work in the world of comics. Born on April 17, 1980, in Ottawa, Canada, she has made a name for herself with original cartoons featured in publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times.
Tamaki’s artwork has graced graphic novels like Skim and This One Summer. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2003 before going on to teach illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
In 2008, her work on Skim landed her on The New York Times’ list for best illustrated children’s book. Notably, she boasts over 90,000 followers on her Instagram account where she showcases her original comic creations.
Mariko Tamaki, Jillian’s cousin, authored both Skim and This One Summer. Together they have left an indelible mark on the world of graphic novels.
