About Jessi Zazu
Jessi Zazu, born on July 28, 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee, was a rock singer and guitarist best known as the frontwoman for the Nashville-based country-rock band Those Darlins. Tragically, she passed away in September 2017 at the age of 28 after a public battle with cervical cancer.
Prior to her music career, Zazu met her bandmates at the Southern Girls Rock & Roll Camp in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The group initially gained attention by covering songs from folk group The Carter Family.
In December 2016, she bravely shared her journey with cancer on YouTube while wearing a t-shirt reading “Ain’t Afraid,” referencing one of Those Darlins’ songs.
Zazu is survived by her mother Kathy Wariner , father David Wariner along with brothers Emmett and Oakley. She was also the niece of country musician Steve Wariner.
