Jeralean Talley, born on May 23rd, 1899 in Montrose, Georgia, was a supercentenarian who became the world’s oldest living person. She lived to the remarkable age of 116 years and 25 days, earning her a place among the one hundred oldest people to have ever lived.
Talley grew up on a farm in Montrose, Georgia with her ten siblings. They spent their youth working the land and harvesting peanuts, yams, and cotton. In her thirties she moved to Inkster, Michigan.
Remarkably for someone of her age she never learned to drive a car but remained active well into her later years. She particularly enjoyed making quilts and gambling at casinos.
In 1936 Jeralean married Alfred Talley in what would be more than fifty-year marriage. The couple welcomed their daughter Thelma in 1937
