About Jennifer Worth
Jennifer Worth (1935-09-25) was a British nurse who found literary success as a novelist. She is best known for her bestselling series, Call of the Midwife, which detailed her experiences as a midwife in the poverty-stricken East End of London. In addition to this acclaimed series, Worth’s other works such as Shadows of the Workhouse and Farewell to The East End are also set in London’s impoverished East End during the 1950s.
Prior to her writing career, Worth trained as a nurse at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. Following her nursing career, she transitioned into music and became a successful musician performing throughout Europe.
She was married to Philip Worth and had two children with him – Suzannah and Juliette.
