Jean Knight, born on January 26, 1943 in Louisiana, is a renowned R&B singer famous for her hit song “Mr. Big Stuff” which gained widespread popularity in 1971. Her music spans various genres including soul, funk, and rhythm & blues; and she also secured Billboard Hot 100 listings with hits like “My Toot Toot” and “You Think You’re Hot Stuff.”
Before rising to fame, Knight kickstarted her music career as a singer at a bar owned by her cousin in Louisiana before being discovered by music producer Huey Meaux.
Apart from her successful releases during the early years of her career, Jean released a compilation album titled The Very Best of Me in 1997 showcasing some of her best work.
