About Jasmine Lee
Jasmine Lee (born January 6, 1977) is a politician and former actress. She gained fame as the first foreign-born South Korean citizen to serve in her country’s National Assembly and is a member of the South Korean Saenuri Party.
Prior to her political career, Jasmine had a successful acting career, appearing in popular films such as Punch and Secret Reunion. Before entering politics and entertainment, she studied biology at Ateneo de Davao University in her native Philippines.
Lee made history as the first Philippine-born recipient of the Korea Image Award from the Corea Image Communication Institute. In 1995, she married Lee Dong-ho and they had children named Lee Seung-yeon and Lee Seung-geun. Tragically, her husband passed away from a fatal heart attack in 2010 while trying to prevent one of their children from drowning.
