About Janet Murguia
Janet Murguia is a prominent civil rights leader, born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 6, 1960. She has been an advocate for Hispanic civil rights and also served as a member of the Clinton administration.
Murguia became the President of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in 2005. NCLR is recognized as the largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States.
Prior to her career in civil rights leadership, she obtained degrees in journalism and Spanish, as well as a JD degree. Notably, Murguia worked at the White House during President Clinton’s tenure serving as deputy assistant.
She comes from a close-knit family and has a twin sister named Mary and a brother named Carlos.
