Janet Munro, born on September 28, 1934 in Blackpool, England as Janet Neilson Horsburgh, was a British movie actress famous for her work in the 1950s and ’60s Disney live action movies such as Swiss Family Robinson (as Bertie), Darby O’Gill and the Little People (as Katie O’Gill), and Third Man on the Mountain (as Lizbeth Hempel). In addition to these roles, she is also remembered for her work in science fiction films The Day the Earth Caught Fire and The Trollenberg Terror.
Munro made her cinematic debut in the 1957 feature Small Hotel playing Effie. Her television credits include recurring roles on ITV’s Armchair Theatre and the BBC’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
Born to Phyllis Robertshaw and comedian Alex Munro, she married film actor Tony Wright before later marrying stage and screen actor Ian Hendry with whom she had two children named Corrie and Sally.
