About Jane Cooper
Jane Cooper was a revered poet known for her works such as The Weather of Six Mornings and Green Notebook, Winter Road. Born on October 9, 1924 in New Jersey, she spent much of her life as a teacher and Poet in Residence at Sarah Lawrence College before becoming the New York State Poet. Prior to her fame, she lived in Jacksonville, Florida and attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. In 1985, she received the first-ever Maurice English Poetry Award. She never married and had no children.
