Janay Palmer, born on January 14, 1988 in New York, is a public figure known for her marriage to NFL player Ray Rice. In 2014, a video emerged showing Rice knocking her unconscious in an elevator, resulting in his arrest and suspension from the league as well as his release from the Baltimore Ravens.
Prior to becoming widely recognized for this incident, Janay met Rice when she was 16 years old and later began dating him in 2008 after their first date at The Cheesecake Factory. She attended Towson University and upon graduating received both an engagement ring and a car from Rice.
Janay and Ray Rice have a daughter named Rayven. Her parents are Danyette and Joseph Palmer while her sister Taylor played basketball at West Virginia.
