About Jahanara Imam
Jahanara Imam, born on May 3, 1929 in Bangladesh, was a notable Bengali political writer and activist. She was affectionately referred to as “the Mother of Martyrs” due to her efforts to bring war criminals to justice. Some of her prominent literary works include Ekattorer Dinguleen (The Days of 1971) and Jiban Mrityu (Life and Death).
In her earlier years, she served as the headmistress of a school before gaining recognition for her War of Liberation memoir titled The Days of Seventy One. Jahanara Imam married Shariful Alam Iman in 1948, with whom she had two sons named Shafi and Jami.
