About Jacintha Abisheganaden
Jacintha Abisheganaden is a renowned World Music Singer known for her studio albums such as Lush Life, Tropicana, and Jacintha is Her Name. Born on October 3, 1957, in Singapore, she has also made a significant mark as a stage actress.
Prior to gaining fame in the music industry, Jacintha earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the National University of Singapore and completed creative writing coursework at Harvard University. She kickstarted her music career after emerging victorious in the televised Singaporean competition Talentime.
Besides her musical accomplishments, Jacintha played an integral role in founding TheatreWorks, a performance company based in Singapore during the mid-1980s. Notably, she served as a judge on Season Two of Singapore Idol.
Jacintha grew up as the daughter of Alex Abisheganaden – an award-winning guitarist born in Sri-Lanka – and a Chinese pianist and singer mother. Throughout her life so far she has been involved with three marriages that all ended in divorce. These include unions with American attorney David Scheffer, singer Dick Lee, and journalist Koh Boon Pin – with whom she had one child named Alexander.
