About Izora Armstead
Izora Armstead, born on July 6, 1942 in Texas, was a pop singer best known for being part of the duo The Weather Girls. Before gaining fame with this group, she and Martha Wash formed a pop duo called Two Tons O’ Fun which later became The Weather Girls.
In 1982, The Weather Girls recorded the hit single “It’s Raining Men” which went on to become a chart-topping success and a cult classic. The song has remained popular in gay bars and male strip clubs for decades after its release.
Armstead moved to Germany in the 1980s where she and her daughter established a German vocal duo similar to The Weather Girls. She passed away from heart failure at an early age.
