About Ivana Spanovic
Ivana Španović, born on May 10, 1990 in Zrenjanin, Serbia, is a Serbian long jumper. She made history by becoming the first track and field athlete from her country to win a medal at the Outdoor World Championships when she secured a bronze in 2013. She followed this up with gold medals at both the 2015 European Indoor Championships and the 2016 European Championships.
Španović began competing internationally in 2005 and achieved significant success early in her career by winning the World Junior Championships in 2008, which led to her being honored as Serbia’s Best Young Athlete of that year. Throughout her career, she has represented Serbia at multiple Olympic Games – both in 2008 and 2012.
Recognized for her outstanding achievements within sport, Španović was named Sportswoman of the Year by the Olympic Committee of Serbia twice – first in 2013 and then again in 2015. She was born to Ljubisa and Vesna Spanovic and has a brother named Nemanja.
