Isabella II of Spain was born on October 10, 1830, in Madrid, Spain. She became the queen and ruled during the mid-19th century. Her reign sparked a national dispute over royal succession and led to the Carlist Wars. Under the temporary regency of her mother, Spain transitioned from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy.

Succeeding to the throne shortly before turning three years old due to her father’s lack of a son, Isabella II faced significant challenges during her reign. In 1868, she was deposed in the Glorious Revolution and was succeeded by her son Alfonso XII. Following this event, she renounced all claims to the throne and went on to live in Paris.

Isabella II was the eldest daughter of King Ferdinand VII and Maria Christina.
