About Isabel Salgado
Isabel Salgado (born August 2, 1960) is a Brazilian volleyball player and coach who represented the Brazilian National Team at the 1986 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Salgado gained recognition for her contributions to the sport.
Salgado’s Instagram account “isabelsalgadovolei” has gained a following of over 10,000 individuals. She used her platform to support fellow female volleyball stars and shared insights from her playing days. Additionally, she was an advocate for social justice and human rights.
Prior to gaining fame as a volleyball player, Salgado began her professional career in 1980 at the age of twenty. She also competed in the 1980 and 1984 Summer Olympics.
Beyond sports, Salgado pursued acting and appeared in the 1998 film “How To Be Single in Rio.” Tragically, she passed away in November of 2022 due to acute respiratory distress syndrome while residing in Sao Paulo.
In her personal life, she was married to Thomaz Koch. The couple had three children: Pedro Solberg Salgado Maria Clara Salgado Carolina Solberg Salgado – all of whom went on to become beach volleyball players themselves.
