Irma Thomas, born on February 18, 1941 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, is a renowned soul singer often referred to as the Soul Queen of New Orleans. In 2007, she clinched the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album with her release After the Rain.
