Irene Cara, born on March 18, 1959 in The Bronx, New York, is a prominent movie actress and singer. She is best recognized for her portrayal of Coco Hernandez in the 1980 film Fame. In addition to her acting career, she achieved international acclaim for her song “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” which earned an Academy Award for “Best Original Song.”
