Ida Rosenthal was a Russian entrepreneur born on January 9, 1886. She is known for her invention of the brassiere, which provided women with more comfortable and supportive undergarments.
Before gaining fame for her invention, Ida initially devised the brassiere as an accessory to help women fit into their dresses more comfortably. However, its popularity led to requests for it to be sold separately.
In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, she opened a dress shop in New Jersey called Maiden Form. Ida moved to the U.S. with her partner William Rosenthal when she was 18 years old, and they later married.
