About Ida Kavafian
Ida Kavafian (born October 29, 1952) is a Hungarian-born violinist known for her many collaborations and for her work as a music festival founder. She is the founder of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and the Music from Angel Fire. She began her studies at the Juilliard School in 1969 and later won the Vianna da Motta International Violin Competition in 1973.
Kavafian has taught at prestigious institutions such as the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and Bard College Conservatory of Music. Born to Armenian parents in Istanbul, she relocated with her family to Michigan in 1956.
