About Ida Haendel
Ida Haendel, born on December 15, 1928 in Poland, was a celebrated violinist. She achieved early success by winning the Warsaw Conservatory Gold Medal and the first Huberman Prize in 1933. Notably, she became a laureate of the inaugural Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition at just seven years old, impressing against experienced performers.
In 1982, her recorded performance of the Sibelius Concerto earned her a prestigious Sibelius medal. Haendel’s musical journey began when her father taught her to play the violin at three years old in East Poland.
