About Holly Black
Holly Black was born on November 10, 1971 in West Long Branch, New Jersey. She is an American writer best known for her work as a children’s author, particularly for creating the popular Spiderwick Chronicles book series.
In addition to the Spiderwick Chronicles, Black also authored Doll Bones, which earned her the prestigious Newbery Medal in 2013. She earned a degree in English from The College of New Jersey before venturing into writing and publishing.
Prior to becoming an author, she worked as an editor for medical journals. Her other notable works include The Curse Workers series and The Good Neighbors graphic novel trilogy. Holly Black currently resides with her husband Theo Black whom she married in 1999.
