About Helen Milligan
Helen Milligan, born on August 25, 1962 in Scotland, is a renowned chess player. She has achieved significant success throughout her career, winning the Scottish Women’s chess Championship three times and being a joint winner of the 1983 British Women’s chess Championship.
Milligan has also earned the title of Woman FIDE (World chess Federation) Master. In addition to her accomplishments in chess, she holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics.
In the early 1980s, she represented both New Zealand and her native Scotland in various chess Olympiads. While born and raised in Scotland as Helen Scott, she later settled in New Zealand.
Aside from her achievements in chess and academia, Milligan co-authored a book titled “chess for Children” in 2004.
