Helen Gallagher was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 19, 1926. She is a renowned stage actress known for her performances in Broadway productions such as Sweet Charity, Pal Joey, and No, No, Nanette; the latter two earned her Tony Awards. Her career took off with her Broadway debut in 1953’s musical Hazel Flagg.

Notably, from 1975 to 1989, she portrayed Maeve Ryan on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope and received three Daytime Emmy Awards for her performance. In addition to her acting career, she married Frank Wise but later divorced him in 1958.
