About Helen Castillo
Helen Castillo (born October 12, 1987) is a fashion designer from Union City, New Jersey. She gained recognition for her appearances on season 12 of Lifetime’s Project Runway and the 4th All-Star season. Known for her eponymous label Helen Castillo, she specializes in Evening and Ready To Wear fashion. In addition to her own brand, Castillo also created a line for the label Nineteenth Amendment in 2015.
Before rising to fame, Castillo studied special occasion design at Fashion Institute of Technology and interned for Vivienne Westwood in London.
Castillo has been candid about facing criticism for her appearance – including being tattooed and exclusively wearing black attire. Despite these challenges, she strives to let her designs speak for themselves.
Within her personal life, Castillo has acknowledged having a half sister, a half brother, as well as two cats named Sookie Stackhouse and Pugsley Addams.
