About Heidi Burge
Heidi Burge is a former University of Virginia basketball star who was born on November 11, 1971, in California. She achieved success by winning gold at the 1993 World University Games and went on to play for the Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics in the WNBA. Her early life and basketball career were depicted in the 2002 Disney Channel movie Double Teamed.
Prior to her fame, Burge underwent open-heart surgery at just five months old due to a medical condition. She attended Palos Verdes High School where she played both volleyball and basketball. In an interesting fact, in 1991 she and her twin sister Heather Burge were recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s tallest pair of female twins.
Burge married Patrick Horton and together they have children named Jonathan and Holly.
