About Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman
Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman (December 20, 1886 – December 5, 1974) was a prominent tennis player born in Healdsburg, California. She gained recognition as an early 20th-century women’s tennis champion and secured four US Open Championships between the years of 1909 and 1919.
Prior to her fame as a tennis player, Wightman had already established a reputation for sportsmanship. Notably, she also achieved success on an international level by clinching two gold medals in tennis at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games.
Wightman married George Wightman in 1912 and continued to leave a lasting impact on the world of sports through her remarkable achievements.
