About Haneen Zoabi
Haneen Zoabi is a Palestinian Arab and Israeli citizen born on May 23, 1969, in Nazareth, Israel. She is known for her role as a politician and became the first Arab woman to be elected to the Israeli Parliament in 2009.
Throughout her political career, she has faced attempts by Israeli politicians to disqualify her from the Knesset due to her belief that Israel should not be classified as a “Jewish State”.
Prior to entering politics, Zoabi studied Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Haifa. Additionally, she founded the Media Center for Arab Palestinians in Israel.
Zoabi comes from a notable family background; she is related to Seif el-Din el-Zoubi, who served as the former mayor of Nazareth.
