Halima Aden is a Somali-American model born on September 19, 1997, in Kenya. She made history as the first to wear a hijab and burkini during Miss Minnesota USA and is represented by IMG.
Her career took off as she landed major covers for CR Fashion Book Issue 10, Allure, British Vogue, Vogue Arabia, and Teen Vogue while sporting her hijab. In her early teenage years, she got braces which she continued to wear while modeling.
In 2017 Halima’s face appeared on a massive American Eagle billboard in Times Square and she was honored with the Image Award at Unity Gala. She later became an official celebrity UNICEF Ambassador in 2018.
Halima Aden comes from a background of being a Somali-American immigrant born in a Kenyan refugee camp.
