Gwendoline Christie, born on October 28, 1978 in Sussex, England, is a movie actress best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth on HBO’s Game of Thrones. In 2022, she started starring in Netflix’s Wednesday as Ms Weems and has also appeared as Commander Lyme in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and as Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Before pursuing acting, Christie was a gymnast but had to give it up due to a spine injury. She later graduated from the Drama Centre London in 2005 and began performing extensively in theater productions before gaining prominence on screen.
Christie’s family background includes a father who worked in sales and marketing and a mother who was a homemaker. She has been romantically involved with designer Giles Deacon since 2013.
