About Gloria Maria
Gloria Maria, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 15, 1949, is a renowned Brazilian journalist, reporter and television presenter. She has received numerous lifetime achievement awards for her outstanding contributions to the field of journalism.
Throughout her career, Gloria Maria conducted interviews with celebrities, reported on wars and travelled extensively for her work. Notably, she was the first black reporter to appear on Brazilian television.
Prior to gaining fame as a journalist, Gloria Maria obtained a journalism degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. She began her career by contributing to various written publications and had her first piece published in November 1971.
Over the years, Gloria Maria’s extensive travels resulted in filling over ten passports during the ’80s as she reported from exotic locations such as the Middle East. Additionally, she dedicated time volunteering in India and Nigeria.
Born Gloria Matta Maria da Silva in Rio de Janeiro, she is also known for being a mother to two daughters – Laura Matta da Silva and Maria Matta da Silva – and has been romantically linked with several notable figures including Austrian engineer Hans Bernhard, Frenchman Eric Auguin,Portuguese entrepreneur Frederico Fragoso and Swede Martin Stenmarck.
