Glenda Jackson, born on May 9, 1936 in England, is a renowned British movie actress. She achieved widespread acclaim for her starring role in the 1969 film Women in Love, which earned her a Best Actress Oscar in 1970. Over the course of her prolific career, she received four Oscar nominations and accumulated over 50 acting credits.

Prior to pursuing acting, Jackson worked at a chemist shop before studying at RADA in Bloomsbury. In addition to her successful acting career, she transitioned into politics and became a member of the British parliament in 1992.

She also portrayed Queen Elizabeth I in the movie Mary, Queen of Scots (1971). Jackson was married to Roy Hodges from 1958 to 1976 and they had a son together in 1969.
