About Gladys Portugues
Gladys Portugues (born September 30, 1957) is an American former professional female bodybuilder and actress. She is best known for placing twice in the top 10 in the Ms. Olympia contest.
Portugues was inspired to start her career in bodybuilding and weight training while attending Marymount Manhattan College, where she saw Rachel McLish on television winning the Ms. Olympia title.
In addition to her bodybuilding achievements, Portugues has also written several books about techniques and tips for exercising and living a healthy life.
She married Belgian actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, with whom she has two children, Kristopher and Bianca.
