Gina Dejesus, born on February 13, 1990 in Ohio, is known for being one of the three women rescued from the house of kidnapper and rapist Ariel Castro in Cleveland on May 6, 2013.
Despite her harrowing experience, she persevered and in 2018 opened the Cleveland Family Center for Missing Children and Adults. Prior to her abduction at age 14 and eventual rescue by authorities, she was last seen on April 2, 2004 while walking home from school.
An interesting fact about Gina is that she was friends with Ariel Castro’s daughter Arlene. Since her rescue, Gina has participated in numerous interviews detailing her ordeal and co-authored a book entitled “Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland.”
She hails from Cleveland and is the child of Felix DeJesus and Nancy Ruiz. She also has siblings named Mayra and Ricardo.
