About Gina Berriault
Gina Berriault (January 1, 1926 – July 15, 1999) was an American novelist and short story writer. She was born in California to Russian-Jewish immigrants and grew up in Long Beach. Berriault started writing stories on her father’s typewriter during elementary school.
She is known for her works such as Women in Their Beds: New & Selected Stories (1996) and The Lights of Earth (1984). Her talent earned her the PEN/Faulkner Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Additionally, she received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
Berriault passed away at the age of seventy-three in Greenbrae, California.
