About Germaine Greer
Germaine Greer is an Australian journalist, born on January 29, 1939 in Melbourne, Australia. She is best known for her feminist-themed journalism and her controversial 1970 bestseller The Female Eunuch. Other notable works include The Whole Woman (1999), The Politics of Human Fertility (1984), and Shakespeare’s Wife (2007). Greer earned her bachelor’s degree in English and French from the University of Melbourne, a master’s degree in romantic poetry from the University of Sydney, and a doctorate in Elizabethan drama from the University of Cambridge.
In her early adulthood years, she identified herself as an anarchist communist. She was born to Peggy and Reginald Greer alongside two younger siblings. Additionally, she was briefly married to carpenter Paul du Feu in the late 1960s.
