About Gene Gauntier
Gene Gauntier (May 17, 1885 – February 18, 1966) was an American screenwriter who made her mark during the silent film era. Born in Missouri, she began her career with Kalem Studios and went on to write over 30 screenplays. Gauntier also appeared in 28 films and even directed one: The Grandmother (1909). Aside from her writing prowess, she worked as a stuntwoman early in her career.
One of Gauntier’s most notable works is Tom Sawyer, which was among the first of many successful screenplays she wrote. In addition to her professional achievements, Gene married Jack J. Clark in 1912.
